Less

Less to me is as if it is a compassionate and practical process that helps thoughtfully organize and prepare the home, work and thoughts on daily basis throughout life. 

 

I was inspired by the Swedish tradition of Dödsstädning  - Death Clearing. it was a neighbor of mine on the farm I had in Sweden that told me I was going through such a process when I was preparing my farm for sale. I learned then that it has nothing to do with death per se, rather it is about embracing life with intention, creating peace in your present, and showing deep consideration for yourself and those you love.

I learned it is:

• Reflective, not rushed - Moving along at your pace, honoring the memories attached to your belongings

• Story-centered - Every item has a history; preserving what matters

• Family-focused - Reducing the emotional and physical burden on those you love

• Life-affirming - This isn't preparation for death; it's preparation for truly living lighter

 

Life is a process and so is preparing for death. Less is the process of sorting through a lifetime of accumulated possessions with care, respect, and understanding.

 

With inspiration from what others have done, you can find your ways of making meaningful decisions about what truly matters to you, what should stay, and what you can let go. This work brings clarity to your living space and peace of mind to your future.

 

The process is deeply personal and proceeds at your own pace. You honor your stories, respect your memories, and support you in making choices that reflect your values and wishes. Many find this journey surprisingly liberating - a chance to curate their lives, rediscover forgotten treasures, and live more simply and intentionally.
